Should you install WordPress blog on your site in a subfolder or in a sub-domain ?

The above example is a typical WorPress blog setup and for SEO purposes you are adding content pages to your website with every post. The search engines love to see new content added to a website. Then If you utilize the correct inter-linking structure, linking your main website and other pages from within your site from your blog posts you will also gain page rank. Each page will pass Google Page rank to any links on that page. In Goggle's page rank hierarchy, each sub directory will have a value passing PR to any pages in which you link. You should link using keyword-anchored links to both the sub-directory and the main index page in the footer and even in the body of your blog posts.

www.blog.yourdomain.com - This is in a sub-domain
Setting up a blog in a sub-domain like this doesn't really have much if any advantage. From what I understand the search engines view a sub-domain as an entirely different site so while you may be generating links from the blog (if in a sub-domain) to your main site, you are not getting the benefit of newly added content.
