Should you install WordPress blog on your site in a subfolder or in a sub-domain ?
www.yourdomain/blog/ This is in a subfolder or subdirectory
The above example is a typical WorPress blog setup and for SEO purposes you are adding content pages to your website with every post. The search engines love to see new content added to a website. Then If you utilize the correct inter-linking structure, linking your main website and other pages from within your site from your blog posts you will also gain page rank. Each page will pass Google Page rank to any links on that page. In Goggle’s page rank hierarchy, each sub directory will have a value passing PR to any pages in which you link. You should link using keyword-anchored links to both the sub-directory and the main index page in the footer and even in the body of your blog posts.

But I thought it would have been nice if you can just give a tutorial on how to do this. Just my 2 cents.
The Man, so flippin’ sorry that the free content I do provide isn’t what you were wanting. Is there anything else I “Should” have done to please you?
I appreciate the info Jeff. Keep up the good work
Interesting, I’m still in the analytical period of determining which structure is working well. I have one setup with a subdirectory and another one that simply links to my main domain (different C class IP address). It will be interesting to see which outweighs the other.
Actually Jeff you’re article is fine. I have a site where I have the Blog in a sub folder as you suggest and that works quite well.
I have recently added a page which is a greatest hits of the blog so that the spiders can go from my main page to various blog pages but I must admit that I had actually forgotten to include internal site links from some of my articles to some of the posts.
Why I had forgotten escapes me as I had done this on one of my other sites and consequently I got myself a decent PR rating quite quickly.
Thanks Jeff, that was useful to me!
great post..
Thanks Jeff, for this seo post. SEO is really a great way to get long term traffic to our site.
Thanks for some great info. I was wanting to know how best to link my blog to my web site – and I use Wordpress.
